Time-efficient casting finishing of manhole covers with Reichmann universal chuck

The particular challenge was to automatically process the extremely large range of approx. 2000 different manhole covers available on the market without time-consuming conversion work.

Universal chuck for efficient machining of prismatic and round cast parts

In order to process the particularly wide range of cast parts efficiently and in a time-saving manner, an individual solution for universal mounting of the workpieces is required. Reichmann met this challenge with the development of a universal chuck for the casting finishing center RFC 800. The workpiece fixture can be converted from prismatic to round parts with minimal set-up and covers a very wide range of different workpiece diameters. This offers the user enormous time savings and makes work easier.

Automatic casting finishing with the Reichmann RFC 800

The post-processing of the cast in the Reichmann casting finishing center RFC 800 is fully automatic on up to 6 sides of the workpiece. With different tool configurations, the machine can be optimally adapted to the customer process. The intuitive teach-in process makes it easy for the machine operator to define and reuse program sequences for each cast part himself. The casting finishing center is equipped with a two-station loading device for particularly high efficiency. This means that loading and unloading can take place in parallel with processing.
